In what is very little surprise to many Music City insiders, Wynonna and Naomi Judd have just made the official announcement that they are teaming up together one last time for a farewell tour. The rumor mill had been churning away ever since the pair’s excellent performance during the CMA’s back in November.
This will be the first tour for the Judds since 2000. Naomi was forced to drastically scale back her schedule back in 1991 after contracting hepatitis C.
The Judds were an instant sensation immediately after signing with RCA in 1983. After their debut single, 1983’s “Had a Dream (for the Heart),” climbed to a respectable No. 17, the floodgates opened and 14 of their next 16 singles topped Billboard’s Country chart. They would go on to capture Top Vocal Duo awards (or the equivalent) seven times from both the CMA’s and the ACM’s, as well as five Grammy awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
No dates or cities have been announced yet for the upcoming tour. I’ll keep you posted.
