By now, everyone probably knows that country star Brad Paisley and pop star Kevin Jonas have struck up a pretty unlikely friendship. Well, maybe not so unlikely. They are both musicians. But now the new Rolling Stone collector’s edition that comes out later this week goes a little deeper into that relationship. It reportedly has a story on Jonas asking Paisley, “Why is it that some people are like, ‘Oh, I hate country music?’” Good question. Paisley’s response? “I’ll tell you why. To some degree we deserve it. Our job in country music is telling true stories, the things that matter to us. I think at times we’ve strayed from that, and our songs have become very defensive and anti every other kind of music — sort of like, ‘We’re country, and we’re this, and we’re that.’ ” Not sure if that answer satisfied Jonas, but it sounds about right to me.
