I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that the holidays are treating you well so far. Billboard has released its final country charts of 2009, so here’s a quick final rundown of the year-end winners.
2009 will certainly go down as the year of Taylor Swift, so it’s somewhat befitting that her quintuple-platinum (and counting) sophomore album, Fearless, ends the year right where it started, which is at No. 1 on the country chart. It also ends the year at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top 200. Rounding out the year end country albums chart is Carrie Underwood’s Play On at No. 2 (No. 5 on the Top 200), Lady Antebellum’s Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw’s Southern Voice and the Zac Brown Band’s The Foundation.
Santa was kind to Reba McEntire, too. Her single, “Consider Me Gone,” nudged Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” off the top spot, giving her country’s final No. 1 hit of 2009. Her last No. 1 hit came in 2004 with “Somebody,” from her Room to Breath album. Rounding out the final country song chart of 2009 is Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” Luke Bryan’s “Do I,” Dierks Bentley’s “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes” and Tim McGraw’s “Southern Voice.”
Lady Antebellum’s follow-up single, “American Honey,” debuted this week at No. 47. It’s the second single from their self-titled sophomore album.
