Every time Aug. 20 rolls around, I like to reminisce about that day in 1994 when I moved to Nashville. I couldn’t wait to get down here, just knowing I could eventually get a job in … music magazines. Remember those? I didn’t even have an email address back then, or a cell phone. After driving my big, blue Cutlass Ciera from rural Nebraska, I finally arrived at Belmont University and became a Nashville resident at age 19 — still the smartest decision I’ve ever made. Back then, my favorite country star was Mary Chapin Carpenter, who made a whole bunch of fun and clever music videos. To mark this occasion, I filled in a few gaps in our Mary Chapin Carpenter video playlist. Looking back on the last fifteen years, I have to agree with Chapin: I feel lucky.
