After the success of Lady Antebellum’s blockbuster self-titled debut album, many wondered if it was possible for the trio to follow-up with an equally successful sophomore album. And while it’s still too early to say, all signs point to their second album, Need You Now doing as well, or even exceeding, their first album.
Need You Now has just sold an eye-popping 481,000 copies in its first week, which puts it at the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. The last album to sell more copies in its first week was Taylor Swift’s Fearless, which sold 592,000 the week of November 8, 2008.
Considering Lady Antebellum’s debut album has sold just under 1.5 million copies to date, Need You Now appears to be on the fast-track to exceeding the numbers. The album’s first single, “Need You Now,” became their second No. 1 hit, while the current single, “American Honey,” has already climbed to No. 17 just seven weeks after its release.
