“I couldn’t believe that we did something Taylor Swift hadn’t done. That was, like, kickass.” That was what Jason Aldean told the Houston Chronicle about how good it felt to have his “Big Green Tractor” be the first song by a country artist to hit No. 1 on the Billboard all-genre Ringscan chart. “I’d be sitting at a restaurant or something and, all of a sudden, I’d hear my song. It was just amazing how many people had that song on their phone. It was a trip,” Aldean said. But maybe the little rewards like that feel so good because they are in addition to the really big rewards: Three No. 1 singles in just nine months from his latest album, Wide Open and sales of more than 3 million CDs. All with a sound Aldean describes as “Guns N’ Roses meets Hank Jr. And George Strait’s hangin’ around at the party, too.” That sounds awesome. Is there a ringtone of THAT?
